What you’ll Study in Therapeutic Massage Degree Programs

It is important that you choose a school that will train you in more than one type of massage, however, even if you already know what area you want to specialize in. Also, choose a school that will fit with your lifestyle and schedule. The programs may last anywhere from six months to two years, depending on the degree you’re working towards and the requirements of your state. Some states require massage therapy students to complete a certain number of practice hours before they can become certified, and they cannot legally work in the field until doing so. When there are such state requirements, you will need to complete approximately 500 practice hours before you will be able to become certified. An examination may also be required at the end of your certificate or associate’s degree program.
